Funeral services for Jack Groce of Winona will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Robbie Murden and Rev. Linda Malone officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Winona.
Visitation will be Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time, at the funeral home.
Mr. Groce, 94, died at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo on Wednesday, October 14. He was born in Charleston on November 9, 1920, to the late John B. and Annie Newton Groce. He was the retired chancery clerk of Montgomery
County, having served 20 years. He was a member of Moore Memorial United Methodist Church in Winona, and was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Garrett Groce;
a sister-in-law, Margie Jordan; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Noel and
Irene Garrett.
Mr. Groce is survived by his son, Bobby Groce and wife, Mary Grace, of Marietta, Georgia; one grandson, Jon Groce of Brooklyn, New York; two sisters, Ann Turner (Len) of Flowood and Jane Ryan of Flowood; one niece, Joy Bridgmon (Ed); and seven nephews, Barton Turner (Ronnie), Mike Turner (Debbie), Tim Ryan (Ravonda), David Ryan (Cindy), Johnny Williamson (Debbie), Clifton Williamson, and Richie Williamson (Ruth Ann).
