Obituary written by: Amy Wilson

Jackie Newman, 49, of Melstone, passed away October 15, 2015. She was born on May 25th, 1966 to Jim and Terry Wilson.
She grew up in the Melstone area as the 3rd of four kids.

She attended Melstone School through grade school and high school and graduated in 1984.

On May 13th 1987, she married the love of her life and her best friend, Robert Newman. Robert and Jackie were the best team. They had two girls, Stephanie in January of 1991 and Mandy in February of 1993. Robert and Jackie made sure to provide the best life for their two daughters.

Jackie started working at school in 1996 - for 20 years.
At the beginning of her career she started as a secretary, but that was never enough. She later became the technology coordinator as well.

Mainly, Jackie enjoyed working cattle, haying and all aspects of ranch work with her family. She loved going to rodeos with her girls, she was their biggest fan. Jackie was also a part of the Melstone QRU/EMTs. She loved the fact that she got to save people's lives and help them in a time of need.

Friends and family that spent time at Jackie and Robert's house meant you would experience a lot of laughter, good conversation and some of the best home cooked food and baked goods around. Jackie was a great friend to everyone and was always there to lend an ear when you needed it.

Jackie was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. She never quit going and thrived on hard work. There were many times she would check heifers and calves all night, get up and go to work, come home and feed, cook supper, do laundry and clean, and then start the process all over again. She did this day in day out, and when haying and shipping came, she continued to go non-stop.

She was the only woman who could survive countless days on no rest or sleep. She was a fierce, strong willed woman, but also known for her tender giving side. There was not a time when you could not confide in her.

Jackie is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters, Mandy, Stephanie & fiancé JC Crowley.

She is also survived by her mother, Terry Wilson; sister, Amy Wilson; brother, Billy and wife Jill Wilson along with their daughters, Kara and Renee; brother, Jimmy and wife Patti Wilson along with their boys Tyler and Kyle; brother-in-law, Sid and wife Brandy Newman; brother-in-law, T.J. and wife Liane Newman along with their sons, Nevada, Sage, Siggen and daughter Shelby and her fiancé J.R. This is a poem that I stumbled upon (author unknown)

Always a silent hurt,
many a silent tear,
but always a beautiful memory
of one we loved so dear.

God gave us strength to bear it,
and courage to take the blow,
but what it meant to lose you
...no one will ever know.

So God Made A Ranch Wife

And on the ninth day, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, "Oh dear, the rancher is going to need help."
So God made a ranch wife.

God said. "I need somebody who will take the 2 o'clock check, pack lunches, work all day gathering calves, keeping books, or revaccinating the steers and then come home to make supper and wash the dishes."
So God made a ranch wife.

God said, "I need somebody willing to sit up all night with her newborn son and watch him grow. Then, pray each morning and teach her children to say, "please and thank you." I need somebody who can read EPDs, mend fence or pull a calf, who can clean her house with vinegar, baking soda and hot water. And who, during calving and haying, will finish her 40-hour week on Friday, then join her rancher for another two days, six meals and five loads of laundry."
So God made a ranch wife.

God had to have somebody willing to work in town for "the
insurance." to warm cold calves in her kitchen and spend her weekends working to get the hay in at double speed ahead of the rain clouds.
And, keep working at it alone, when the rancher goes off to help the neighbor when she sees the first smoke.
So God made a ranch wife.

God said, "I need somebody strong enough to tamp posts and heave bales, to co-sign a loan for a half a million with steady hands, yet gentle enough to tame show steers and raise kids and calm the rancher when he's upset over higher corn and lower fat cattle, who will stop her work for an hour to talk on the phone to her neighbor who just found out her mother is sick. It had to be somebody who would cook and clean and not cut corners. Somebody to wash, dry, iron, tidy, feed, rake, brand, water, wean, pick up this, run that back and check the homework and pack the lunch bags and remember the basketball schedule and replenish the refrigerator and finish a hard week's work with a five mile ride to church."

Somebody who would sew a family together with the soft strong stitches of sharing, who would laugh and then sigh and then reply, with smiling eyes, when her daughter says she wants to spend her life "doing what mom does."
So God made a ranch wife.
