AURORA (Special) -James W. Beat, 69, died Monday, May 9, at a Grand Island hospital. Mr. Beat had been in poor health for several yeas but only seriously ill for a few days. He was born in Hamilton County December 15, 1885, the son of James and Sarah Beat, and lived in Hamilton county all his life. He was a retired farmer and lived in Stockham at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Ready Beat; one daughter, Mrs. Earl Willcock of Stockham; and one son, James of Aurora. Three sisters and four brothers also survive him: Mrs. James Flinkenger of Marysville, Calif., Mrs. Margaret Willcock of Aurora, and Mrs. Sadie Gellatly of Stockham; Fruman and Enos of Springfield, Ore., Harvey of Jerome, Ida., and Ezra of Southgate, Calif.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m., in the Presbyterian Church in Stockham with the Rev. William Dorn and Dr. Paul Porter officiating. Burial will be in the Stockham Cemetery.
