Edward N. Bredemeyer
Edward Neil Bredemeyer, who was a deputy with the Clark County Sheriff's Office, died at a Longview hospital Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002. He was 86.

He also worked for the Oregon State Police Department and had owned an antique shop in Vancouver.

Mr. Bredemeyer was born Nov. 14, 1915, in Ballard, Wash.

Survivors include his wife, Grace, at home; two sons, Frederich of Longview and Raymond of Boring, Ore.; one sister, Eleanor Stuestall of Arlington, Wash.; five grandchildren; and twin step-granddaughters.

Mr. Bredemeyer enjoyed woodworking, repairing clocks and old furniture. He loved salmon fishing from a boat in the North Fork of the Lewis River.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Kalama Lodge 17 and AARP.

There will be no service. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Vancouver.

Edward Neil Bredemeyer, 86, of Longview, died Jan. 26, 2002, at St. John Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 14, 1915, in Ballard, Wash., to Elmer and Mae (Jensen) Bredemeyer and moved with his family to the Portland area in his youth.

Mr. Bredemeyer served in the Civilian Conservation Corps as a teenager and in the 1930s, became a dental lab technician. He married Martha Buchtman in 1935. They divorced in 1941. He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1946 as a chief in the Medical Corps, both in the medical and dental departments. He was honorably discharged after being disabled with a leg injury.

He owned a dental lab in Kalispell, Mont., and later returned to Portland to work in dental labs there. In 1950, he joined the Oregon State Police and then the Clark County Sheriff's Office in 1956. He retired in 1972.

He married Grace Gusey Weber in 1955. They co-owned an antique shop in Vancouver during the 1960s. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, AARP, and a life time member of Kalama Lodge No. 17. He enjoyed woodworking and repairing clocks and old furniture. He loved salmon fishing from a boat in the North Fork of the Lewis River at Cedar Creek and bank fishing along the Kalama and Cowlitz rivers. He and his wife were fishing at Barrier Dam the day Mount St. Helen's erupted.

Survivors include his wife at home; two sons, Frederich Bredemeyer of Longview and Raymond Bredemeyer of Boring, Ore.; a sister, Eleanor Stuestall of Arlington, Wash.; five grandchildren; twin stepgranddaughters; two nephews; three nieces; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were two sisters, an infant in 1925 and Jeanette in 1993; and a stepson, Wayne Weber in 1998.

At his request, no service will be held. Inurnment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver.
