Dolores Lenora Ruffer, 89, died July 28, 2006, in Westminister, Colo.
Dolores was born in Sedalia, Mo. She married Otto Ruffer on Aug. 31, 1939, and lived in San Francisco, California. They moved to Walnut Creek, California in 1944 and then to Cordelia (Solano County, CA) in 1963. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Otto, after 50 years of marriage. Dolores and Otto spent most of their life in Old Town Cordelia, where they built their own home and ranch. They were actively involved with the Cordelia community and helping with the elderly.

Dolores was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an avid gardener and her favorite flowers were roses. Dolores won many prizes and trophies with pony and cart parades with her husband. She was also known as the "Vella Cheese" lady from 1979-2002. If you needed a recipe, conversation or just a friendly smiling face, you could go to Vella Cheese in Rockville (Solano Co., CA) and she was there.

Dolores spent the last couple years of her life in hospice care in Colorado with her son and daughter-in-law. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dolores's caregivers in her last few years.

Donations can be made in Dolores's memory to AGAPE Hospice Services, 6041 S. Syracuse Way, Suite 220, Greenwood Village, Colo. 80111.
