HOUSTON Bertha Mae Clemons Brassfield, 70, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at her home. She was born Feb. 19, 1930, in Chickasaw County to Ray and Ruby Blansett Clemons. She was a homemaker, and a member and Sunday school teacher at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ with Bro. Tommy Byars officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Memorial Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Rex Brassfield; five daughters, Virginia Gregory of Pontotoc, Wanda Gregory and Katherin Hughes, both of Woodland, Carolyn Gann of Houston and Jo Cross of Houlka; five sons, Stevie Brassfield and John Brassfield, both of Houston, Lucky Brassfield of Fulton, and Ricky Brassfield and David Brassfield, both of Montpelier; one sister, Faye Neil Stanford of Houston; one sister, Faye Nell Brassfield of Houston; 29 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son and daughter, Gary and Janice Brassfield; three grandchildren; her parents; and two brothers, Billy Clemons and Rudolph Clemons.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
