She was named for her fathers sister and was best known by "Lou" Her early years were spent in Fairgrove and Thomasville with her parents and 5 brothers. Her childhood summers were spent in Stanley County helping with family farms and cotton fields. Lou attended Thomasville High School. She lived in Norfolk, Virginia for a short time during World War 2. She was a life member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 9899. She made her home in Trinity, North Carolina raising 2 sons Mike and Danny.
