Born July 15, 1926 the only daughter of William and Mary Martha Swaringen Suggs Hazelwood in Davidson County, North Carolina. She was named for her fathers sister and was best known by "Lou" Her early years were spent in Fairgrove and Thomasville with her parents and 5 brothers. Her childhood summers were spent in Stanley County helping with family farms and cotton fields. Lou attended Thomasville High School. She lived in Norfolk, Virginia for a short time during World War 2. She was a life member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 9899. She made her home in Trinity, North Carolina raising 2 sons Mike and Danny.
