Our hearts were broken Saturday morning, May 3rd, when we learned of the untimely death of Jonathan Jordan Call. JJ was a beautiful son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. In his short life, he forever impacted those who knew him.
JJ was born on May 21, 1980, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Melinda Whiteley and Randy Call. He graduated from Skyline High School in 1999. JJ was a gifted athlete, generous, hilarious storyteller, confident, ambitious, charismatic, keenly sensitive to and protective of the underdog, fiercely loyal, and genuinely interested in all members of his family. The children in the family enjoyed his fun-loving and playful nature. JJ loved animals, especially his dogs. Through all of the ups and down those closest to him knew the kindness and sensitivity of his soul. Our sorrow is for the potential that was never reached in this life. We will always be grateful for our last times with him when he looked so healthy and enthused for the life ahead. The recent times together brought hope and joy as he recovered his best self and discussed his plans for the future. While his earthly life is finished we believe that JJ will be embraced with love and welcomed into a better phase of existence where, through the grace of God, the potential we saw and prayed for will ultimately be realized.
Preceded in death by brother Anthony, grandparents Ben and Lois Call and John M. Whiteley. Survived by his father Randy (Connie) Call, his mother Melinda Whiteley, grandmother Barbara Whiteley, brothers Zachary and Nicholas, half-brothers Aaron, and Taylor, half-sister Samantha, step-sisters Stephanie, and Ashley, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and the 'younglings' who looked up to him: Lauren, Chloe, Ethan, Olivia, Sophia and Dylan.
