Essex Junction - William H. Adkins, 78, of Essex Junction passed away at his residence on October 18.

Bill was born in Charles City, Virginia on January 7, 1937, the son of Sylvester and Virginia Adkins.

Bill grew up in Charles City and Richmond, Virginia.

Bill married Sally McMahon on June 24, 1961 in Washington, DC.

Bill moved to Vermont in 1967 to work for the General Electric Company for 25 years before retiring in 1992.

After retiring from GE, Bill worked for the Burlington Futon Company and then worked 10 years at Rich Frog and retired once again for good.

Bill was an avid gardener and enjoyed the outdoors. Bill was a diehard Washington Redskins and Baltimore Orioles fan and he never went anywhere without his Redskins cap.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, his son-in-law Gary Colburn in 2005, his brother Prince in 2006 and his nephew Devin Holmes in 2011 and also his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Barbara and Hugh Fitzgerald.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Essex Junction, Vermont.
