In Plattsburgh, Dec. 28, 192, Mrs. Mary Henderson Wever, widow of the late Mr. Samuel H. Wever, aged 67 years and 11 months.
For several weeks she had been in a critical condition with an incurable heart difficulty which had made known its grip upon the vital forces some two years ago. Its hold had not been considered dangerous until a short time since. Her children gathered about her to cheer and comfort her last days; knowing that they were nearly numbered, and that the sands of time ran low. Nothing was left undone that love could do for the dear mother who had all her life done so much for them. Her son, Hon. John M. Wever, remained away from Congressional duties to be within easy call of her bedside. Last week, the illness of his wife made it necessary for him to go to her and remove her to a warmer climate. He returned last evening, and found that his dear and honored mother had taken her departure to the home prepared for those who love God.
Mrs Wever was a woman of strong character. She was especially loyal to her convictions of duty, standing by what she believed to be right, with absolute fearlessness and loyalty. This was a prominent trait. She was true, simple and unassuming, walking in a straight path towards the goal she sought, and not only won, but commanded the respect of all came within the pale of her influence. She was a loving, watchful, faithful mother; and those who knew her best, the members of her household and her dearest friends, best knew and appreciated her worth. To them the loss can ever be made upon earth. She was a thoughtful woman, and possessed much natural ability, that was improved by reading and experience. She was a sincere Christian, a member of the Methodist Church, and until the gradual breaking down of health and strength, and active and earnest worker in the church of her choice.
Mrs. Wever was born in Paisley, a suburb of Montreal. She cane to Plattsburgh with her family twenty-seven years ago, and has since been a resident of the place. Her husband, Mr. Samuel Weaver, died about twenty-five years ago. Five children survive her: Hon. John M. Wever, Mrs. A. Guibord, Mrs. W.S. Guibord, Willis L. and B.S. Wever.
Funeral from the house this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock.
