Mrs. Pauline Virginia (Paula) Bynum. Age 101 years and 10 months, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Winfield Nursing Center in Crockett, Texas. Pauline was born December 28, 1913 in the community of Maytoy in Atoka County, Oklahoma. She was the first-born child of Edgar A. and Vera Tigert.Pauline married Carl O. Bynum in 1932 in Hollis Oklahoma. They had one child, Jackie Helen Bynum. The family moved from Eldorado, Oklahoma to Houston, Texas sometime in early 1936.

During World War II, Pauline worked in the Aircraft Strut Plant in Houston, Texas. In later years she worked as a butcherette for A&P Stores as well as other large chain grocery stores. She also became an assistant bookkeeper before leaving public work. She and her husband moved from Houston, Texas to Latexo and subsequently to Crockett in the early 1980’s.

Pauline was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She had boundless energy and was blessed with a host of talents. The more active she was the happier she was. She was still walking a mile a day and mowing her yard on the riding lawnmower at age 95. Pauline gave of herself to everyone. She loved doing something for others.Pauline has always been active in her local Baptist Church wherever she lived. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Crockett, Texas at the time of her death and had been an active member there until sometime in 2009 when her health no longer permitted her to attend.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Carl Bynum; parents, Edgar and Vera Tigert; brothers, Fred W. (Billy) Tigert and wife, Verdell; Lyle P. Tigert and wife, Marjorie and Paul K. Tigert.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pauline V. Bynum will be held Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Steve Meadows and Rev. Keeney Dickenson officiating. Interment to follow in the Latexo Cemetery.
