John R. (Russ) Nesson, 77, Uehling, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at
Bryon LGH Medical Center, Lincoln. Funeral services were Tuesday,
March 1, 2005, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Uehling. Rev. Kim
Cottingham officiated. Burial was at West Admah Cemetery, rural
Hooper with military honors by Uehling American Legion Post 196.

Survivors include his wife, Myrna; daughters, Candy and Joe Peters
of Red Cloud, Erin and Scott Miller of West Point; sons, Jeffrey and
Christy Nesson of Nickerson, Monte and JoAnn Nesson of Lynwood,
Wash., Del Nesson of Blaine, Wash., Tracy and Laurie Nesson of
Lincoln; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters,
Virginia Lund of Brookings, S.D., Dorothy Sheetz of Sioux Falls,
S.D. and Marty Richter of Kirkland, Wash.

Moser Memorial Chapel, Fremont, was in charge of arrangements.

John R. "Russ" Nesson, 77, of Uehling died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at
Bryan LGH Medical Center in Lincoln.

He was born June 29, 1927, in Volga, S.D., to Harold and Elmira
(Lee) Nesson. He graduated from Volga High School in 1945, then
farmed with his parents until entering the U.S. Army on April 13,
1951, during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany and was
discharged March 23, 1953, with the rank of sergeant. He returned to
farming after his discharge until 1957 when he moved to the Black
Hills and worked for the U.S. Forestry Service. He moved to Uehling
in 1963 and worked for Marsh Farm Supply at Hooper, Consolidated
Blenders in Fremont and Arlington, Rich's Welding in Arlington,
Dunrite Inc. of Fremont and then Rhea Cattle Co. at Arlington,
retiring in 1990.

He married Myrna M. Henderson on June 6, 1954, in Winner, S.D.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Uehling, Uehling
American Legion Post 196, Voiture 1018, Forty and Eight of Fremont,
Uehling Lions Club and was a former Boy Scout leader.

Survivors include: his wife; two daughters, Candy (Mrs. Joe) Peters
of Red Cloud and Erin (Mrs. Scott) Miller of West Point; four sons,
Jeffrey (and wife, Christy) Nesson of Nickerson, Monte (and wife,
JoAnn) Nesson of Lynwood, Wash., Del Nesson of Blaine, Wash., and
Tracy (and wife, Laurie) Nesson of Lincoln; three sisters, Virginia
Lund of Brookings, S.D., Dorothy Sheetz of Sioux Falls, S.D., and
Marty Richter of Kirkland, Wash.; 12 grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, two granddaughters and a brother.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in
Uehling with the Rev. Kim Cottingham officiating. Visitation will be
from 1-7:30 p.m. today with the family receiving friends from 6-7:30
p.m. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be
continue from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and from noon
until service time at the church. Burial will be in West Admah
Cemetery in rural Hooper with military honors by Uehling American
Legion Post 196.
