Marlene Joyce McKenna, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2015. Born in Superior, Wisconsin on August 25, 1933, the only child of the late Carl and Gertrude Swanson. They relocated to Southern California when she was 3 months old. She has lived in her Torrance house for 55 years and really enjoyed her neighbors who were her good friends. While in elementary school she met her best friend Betty McDougall Sindoni. She cherished this friendship.

She graduated from Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles and attended Long Beach City College. She retired from Hughes Aircraft in Torrance.

Marlene was a great mom and grandma supporting Hope in her crazy animal collecting and Kent with all of his airplane activities, even letting him build a plane in the garage. She was very excited about having her first great-grandson. Marlene was an avid crafter and seamstress. Her last weekend out was spent attending a Concert in the Park and going to the Agua Caliente Casino in Palm Springs. Gambling and people watching
were a few of her favorite things.

She is survived by her daughter, Hope, grandchildren Johnnie (Great-grandson Wyatt) and Kelsey. Son, Kent (Tracy), grandsons Eric and Brett.

There will be no service. Arrangements were provided by Pacific Crest Cemetery.
