MARY DUNCAN passed away peacefully February 10, 2011 at her home in Lethbridge. She was predeceased by her loving husband Allan in 2002.
She is survived by her son xxxxx, and her daughter xxxxxx, 3 grandsons, 1 granddaughter. as well as six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents Ben and Leota Pengilly and her siblings Frances, Joyce, Dan, Ruth, Wilhemina, Bob, and Tom.
Mary was born on the family farm in Maybutt in 1919. She grew up in that area, attended Calgary Normal School in 1938-39, and returned to southern Alberta to teach. She married Allan Duncan in 1943 and they farmed in New Dayton for many years. They moved to Warner in 1981 where Mary resided until moving to Lethbridge in 2004.
She was an avid reader and letter writer. She enjoyed many crafts and hobbies. In her later years she used her sewing skills to outfit many hundreds of dolls which she donated to Harbour House in Lethbridge. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and treasured her family above all else. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Therese Villa for their kind and loving care.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at the MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2329 - 15 Ave. S., Lethbridge on Monday February 14th, 2011 at 1 RM., with Reverend Trevor Potter officiating. A private interment will be held preceding the service. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so wish, donations may be made to Harbour House c/o YWCA Lethbridge or Warner Fire Department.
