William Wiley Cathey was born on November 12, 1861 in Weakley, Tennessee when his father James White Cathey was 30 and his mother Olivia Catherine Gillespie was 25. He married Anna L. Blackiston on December 4, 1884 in Cooke, Texas. They had two children during their marriage. He died as a young father on August 11, 1893 of unknown causes in Oklahoma at the age of 31.

William Wylie was born on 12 Nov 1861 - exactly 17 days after his father James White Cathey joined the CSA Army. He was about 3 1/2 years old when his father returned home from the war approximately April/May 1865.

In 1877 at the age of 16 or 17, William Wylie moved with his parents and his younger brothers and sisters from Obion County, Tennessee to Texas. The 1880 census shows the family living near Woodbine, Cooke County, Texas. The Blackiston family also lived in Woodbine during this period (daughter born in Cook County in 1877). William Wiley Cathey married Anna L. Blackiston in Cooke County, Texas on December 4, 1884, when he was 23 years old.

Their daughter Ada Pearl was born on November 18, 1886, in Texas. After living in Texas for about 10 years the young family moved near Murray, Oklahoma in 1887 where his son James Earl was born on February 26, 1888. Wylie died in 1893 at the age of 31 of unknown causes and his gravesite location is unknown. After his death, the 1900 Census shows his family living in Berwyn, Oklahoma.
