Thomas Leroy Dameron was a Private in Company K, 40th Virginia Infantry, CSA. He was from Northumberland County Virginia. He was shot in the thigh at Gettysburg on July 3rd 1863 while acting as the left flank for the attack on cemetery ridge. He was captured and taken to Point Lookout. He was returned to Richmond and discharged from the CSA Army. He returned to St. Mary's County, Maryland. The town of Dameron in St Mary's County is named for him.

He is the son of Leroy Oldham Dameron 1798-1852 and Frances Russ Walker 1804-?.
