Richard D. Arnold, 86, Portland, passed away Wednesday morning, July 8, 2015 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in Portland on Sept. 29, 1928, the son of the late Forrest G. Arnold and Hazel D. (Tharp) Arnold. He was a 1946 graduate of Portland High School.

He was married Sept. 2, 1949 to Janet (Beard) Arnold, who preceded him in death in 2006. On Aug. 4, 2012 he married Suzie (Johanning) Arnold, who survives. He was employed by the Graphic Printing Company for 44 years, serving as General Manager and Vice President. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church, he served as deacon and trustee. He was a member of the Portland Elks Lodge #768. Dick was an avid fisherman and golfer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, and a step son, Mark Johanning.

Funeral Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Portland, on Saturday at 4 p.m. with Pastor Stan Gockel officiating. Calling will be at the church on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. Burial will follow in Green Park Cemetery, Portland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Jay County Cancer Society or Little Red Door of East Central Indiana. Oswalt Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
