Richard L. (Dick) Koble beloved son, husband, father, and “Pops”, departed this life on June 3rd, 2015, to be with his loved ones in heaven. We can only imagine what a reunion that must have been!

Born on June 24th, 1937, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Dick grew up in and around Momence, Illinois. As a young man he joined the Army and was stationed in Japan as a military policeman. This is where he met and married his wife Carolyn. Upon returning to the States, Dick continued his law enforcement career. He was an Austin Police Officer, a Southern Pacific Railroad Detective, an officer with the Federal Protective Service, and retired as a Senior Sergeant with the Round Rock Police Department after 24 years of service. While working in law enforcement, Dick attended Central Texas College and received his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.

Dick was very involved in the Round Rock Community and lovingly known as “Pops” to everyone. He was instrumental in forming the Pony Colt League. He was the D.A.R.E. Officer for thousands of RRISD students. Dick singlehandedly ran the Community Services Division of the RRPD for many years. This included coordination of the Neighborhood Watch Program and founding the Citizen Police Academy as well as the Central Texas Crime Prevention Association.

Pops will lovingly be remembered for his dedication to his family and his service to others. He lived his life with dignity, courage, honor, and a great sense of humor. Pops was a positive influence and mentor to so many.

Dick is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Koble; children Jeff and his wife Brenda, Chuck and his wife Jane, Cyndi and her wife Michelle; grandchildren Ashley, Beau, Kristin, Austin, Ava, and Alexandra; great-grandson Gage; sister Phyllis Manahan and her husband Kevin; as well as a large extended family.
