George M. Hodge, 79, of 1426 Carolina Ave., died at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday in St. John's Hospital.
He was born in Springfield, the son of George and Anna Anderson Hodge.
His parents and two sisters preceded him in death.
He was a retired employee of the City of Springfield, serving as secretary to the Chief of Police, inspector for the City Health Department, a former baliff of the County court and a deputy sheriff.
Mr. Hodge was a member of BPO Elks, Tyrian Lodge 333 AF&AM and a member of St. Joseph Minstrels.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Janette) Mallow and Mrs. William (Georgia) Adamski of Springfield; six grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Ellinger-Kunz and Davis Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
