Resolutions of Respect

It has pleased God who doeth all things well to take from our midst by the withering hand, death, our beloved friend & brother, Thomas H. Ligon who had just entered into Manhood with many bright and alluring prospects spread out before him, but sadly he was overtaken by the fearful destroyer of life, consumption that slowly but surely does its sad work.

Brother Ligon bore his affliction with Christian fortitude and without a murmur until the 15th instant, when he quietly and peacefully crossed over the river of death in the full hope eternal happiness in the great beyond.

Thomas Ligon was a young man with few faults, beloved and respected by all who knew him, and we earnestly pray God that all of us may ever strive to so emulate his examples in life that when our Savior comes we may be as he was: ready to go and be with God.

Revolve first, that the Baptist Church and Sunday School of this place sustained the loss of one of her best young men, his Mother's a dutiful Son; his Sisters a devoted brother and the community a noble young man.

Second, that a Copy of these resolutions be entered on the records of the Church and Sunday School of the Baptist Church of Honey Grove, Texas, and that a Copy be sent to the family of the departed brother.
