Sacred to the memory of Jacob and Rebecca Motte. He was an upright, benevolent and patriotic citizen, deservedly beloved and respected by all who knew him; being infirm and advance in age, he survived but a short time, the capture of Charleston, and the consequent misfortunes of his country; having departed this life on the 20th day of January, 1781, aged 51 years.
