Adele Brooks was born to Clifton and Cora Mills on February 2, 1925 in Fulshear, Texas. Their mother, Cora, died when they were three months old. Ed Johnson, their mother’s brother and his wife Corrine Johnson took the twins and raised them as their own children.

Adele and her daughter, Perri, moved to Los Angeles, California in 1956 to be near her twin sister, Estelle Stell in1956. Shortly after moving to California Adele met the Love of Her Life, William Brooks. Their love blossomed like a beautiful rose and they were married by Reverend A.F. Reed on September 2, 1961.

For a number of years Adele worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District and Mary Kay Cosmetics. However, her passion was caring for her family. She loved cooking; beautifying the home, gardening, sewing and doing all of the things that would enhance the life of family. She was a caring and loving grandmother, mother and wife.

Her first church experience in California was with Mount Moriah Baptist Church. In subsequent years she became one of the founding members of Greater New Bethel Baptist. She got joy from working with the children of the church and teaching them the beauty of loving and serving God. She taught vacation Bible School and Sunday in the youth department. In the later years, she taught an adult Sunday School class until she became ill.

Adele was President of the Senior Mission, and was on the Deaconess Board and Mothers’ Board. She gave her life to God when she was a child and continued to love and serve Him throughout her life time. Even during her illness she continued to pray for others.

Adele leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband William Brooks, daughter, Perri Threatt (Donald Threatt), stepdaughter, Shirley Honeysucker (Robert Honeysucker), granddaughter Eboni Threatt, step grandsons, Darrell Jackson, Darnell Alford.

Nieces, Corinne Burnett, Bettye Sims, Naomi Taylor, Patsy Watson, Carlyn Mills, Adrianne Bourgeois, Shondra Ingram, Nephews, Samuel Dotson, Lamar Mills Jr, Preston Mills, Grandniece, Sabrina Williams. She was preceded in death by brothers, Eddie Holmes and Lamar Mills and sisters, Beulah Holmes, Leola Holmes, Corrine Foster and Rosa Johnson and Estelle Stell.
