Samuel "Sam" Lewis Morgan, 74, of Willis, Texas passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2015. He was born in Houston, Texas on December 5, 1940 and was preceded in death by his parents, George Green and Margaret Ann Morgan; his brothers, Jack Morgan; Robert "Bobby" Morgan; Albert Ross Morgan; James "Jimmy" Morgan; Johnny Morgan; and Sonny Morgan; his sisters, Avalon "Twitter" Morgan Hughes and Cora "Tincey" Morgan Armstrong; wife, Doris Jeanette "Jeanie" Jarboe Morgan; granddaughter, Marilyn Abigail "Abby" Young, both of Willis, and his step-son, Harvey Lee Green of Tonopah, AZ. Left to cherish his memories are his children, Beckie Morgan Warren and her husband Paul "Buddy" Warren, Jr. of Conroe, TX; George Morgan and his wife, Dawn of Willis, TX; Carol Morgan Johnston and her husband William "Bill" Johnston, of Conroe, TX; Janet Morgan Stark, of Willis, TX; Shirley Morgan Bridgeman and her husband Michael, of Yuma, AZ; Bridgit Morgan and Justin Sigford of Willis, TX; step-sons, Bobby Simpson, Jay Simpson and Mike Simpson. Sam was a proud father who felt blessed to have numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews in the Texas and Louisiana area, along with countless longtime friends. His best friend, a Dachshund named Bud, will also miss him terribly.
Sam lived in the Houston area until he and his family moved to Willis in the late 1970s. While living in Houston, he worked as a diesel mechanic at several major companies and then owned and operated numerous full-service gas stations and automotive repair shops. He also owned and operated automotive shops (J & S Automotive, Morgan's Automotive and Sam's Wrecker Service) in the Willis area until he retired in 2000. Upon retirement, he enjoyed spending more time with his friends and family also enjoyed time together playing horseshoes, rummy, and cooking on the grill.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 and services will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 12:30 PM with Rev. Paul Curtis officiating at Cashner Funeral Home (801 Teas Road in Conroe, Texas). Burial will follow in Garden Park Cemetery.
