L.G. Holcomb, 68, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A native of Tishomingo County, he was a graduate of Mississippi State University and a longtime resident of Tupelo. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a lifetime member of the Scottish Rites Bodies, K.C.C.H. He spent his adult life in the insurance business in the North Mississippi area.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Bert Harper and Dr. Gayle Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Joyce Holcomb of Tupelo; his children, Kelly and Tarji Holcomb, and Terry and Barbara Holcomb of Tupelo; one granddaughter, Megan Holcomb of Tupelo; one brother, Hugh Holcomb and his wife, Sandy, of Huntsville, Ala.; his in-laws, Gary and Johnnie Ozbirn of Tupelo and Sandra Holcomb and Von Ozbirn, both of Belmont.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Maggie Holcomb, and two brothers, Lawton and Charles Holcomb of Belmont.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Gamble, John Kendall, Gerald McGill, Ron Quarles, Gerald Scott and Ron Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Hardees Coffee Drinkers on West Main.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
