On Sept. 26, 1959 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tiffin, he married the former Adaline C. Wise. She preceded him in death Aug. 22, 1992.
Mr. Heitz, a 1948 graduate of Willard High School, was owner-operator of the former Heitz Clothing Store in Monroeville for 35 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #1117, and The Rod and Gun Club of Monroeville. He was also the Past Grand Knight of the Attica Knights of Columbus Council.
He is survived by a son, Charles P. Heitz of Monroeville, a son and daughter-in-law, Gerard and Stephanie Heitz of New Albany, Ind.; a granddaughter, Adaline Heitz, a grandson, Alex Heitz; several nieces and nephews; four sisters, Sister Rose Anna, Order of Divine Providence of Melbourne, KY; Agnes Morman of Milan; Helen Ruffing, Norwalk, and Frances Gilbert, Bellevue.
He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter. Marie Cecilia; two brothers, John and Joseph, who died while serving in the military.
Services were held Saturday, June 7 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville. Rev. Lawrence C. Scharf, Rev. Thomas Ankenbrandt., Rev. Harvey Keller and Rev. Benedict E. Ringholz officiated, with burial made in St. Joseph's Cemetery Monroeville.
The Foos & Son Funeral Home, Bellevue, was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to The Leo J. Heitz Memorial Fund, in care of his family.
