James almost evaded detection. His parents' names are wrong on his death certificate. The only reason he was recognizable is that the address on his death certificate is the same as his mother's had been on her death certificate.

Railroading like some of his brothers, James was an engineer on the PRR. Single at the time of his death, it's thought he never married. He was only 40 at his passing and apparently shot through with tuberculosis. An operation preceded his death by three days.

James lived with his mother Susanna, and perhaps taking it hard, she passed a month after him.
