Patrick was one of six children of Daniel P. Carrolton (Carlton) and Margaret Hart Carrolton. He was christened on March 15, 1857 at St. Patrick's Pro-Cathedral in Newark, NJ. He was married, but a widower by 1920. Patrick Carrolton worked as a shipyard inspector in 1920 and lived at 365 Fairmount Avenue, Newark, Essex, NJ. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and a member of the Knights of Columbus New Council 160. Patrick is buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery off of the "Way of the Angels", St. Bartholomew's Path (north side), Plot 19, Grave 5, a grave he shares with his brother Daniel P. Carrolton, Jr. The grave has no marker and is just a grassy patch not far from the grave of their parents.
