Mrs. Kaping, the former Ida Schroeder was born in Kiel, August 11, 1872. She married Fred Kaping of Steinthal, Dec 10, 1888. They resided on a farm in Town Schleswig and later operated a store at Steinthal. They moved to Taylor county in 1914. After Mr. Kaping's death in 1952, she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Hugo Hungsberg, at Medford.
