James Immel Fulton and Leoma (LaMier) Fulton of Fairfield, Iowa became parents of their first child on January 17, 1937, a son they named Lyle LaMier Fulton. The name was to honor his father's older brother Lyle and his mother's maiden name.

The family moved to Aurora, Illinois in 1940 where a second son, Charles, was born in 1941. Somewhat later, the family moved to North Aurora where in 1943 Lyle acquired his youngest brother, Duane. It was also in 1943 that Lyle entered first grade of elementary school. Lyle's father was employed in defense plant work during 1943 as WWII was raging and this involved still another move, this time to Seneca, Illinois. When the war ended in 1945, the parents decided to move the young family to Jewell, Kansas, not far from James's sister. James was employed in Concordia, Kansas, and because of the commute the family relocated to Concordia in 1947. It was here that Lyle graduated from high school with the class of 1955.

In 1957, Lyle enlisted in the United States Air Force and after training at both Lackland AFB and Sheppard AFB, he was assigned to the Strategic Air Command at Altus AFB, Oklahoma during the time that the new B-52 bomber was being placed in service and where he served for two years. In 1959, he was reassigned to Headquarters Squadron at Tachikawa Air Base in Japan where he served three years. With one year of service remaining on his final enlistment, he returned stateside and was assigned to Kincheloe AFB in Michigan where he received honorable discharge in 1963.

Upon receiving orders for overseas assignment, Lyle married Diana Lee Avery of Fairfield, Iowa, on May 16, 1959. Dianna joined Lyle in Japan for this three year tour of duty. During this time, they became parents of daughter Laura LeAnn. After being reassigned to Kincheloe AFB in Michigan, the couple had their second child, James Russell Fulton. Deciding to leave the Air Force, the couple settled in Kansas City and Lyle soon became engaged in the trucking industry, first for UPS and later for ABF Freight System. After seventeen years of marriage, the couple divorced.

Lyle found a career with ABF as an over the road driver. Although hired in Kansas City, a transfer to St. Louis in 1973 placed him in a position where he remained until deciding to retire in November, 1996. At that time he had recorded more than three and a half million safe driving miles.

On August 22, 1976, Lyle married Phyllis Elaine Bright of Claremore, Oklahoma. This wedding ceremony took place in the First Methodist Church in Concordia, Kansas. A reception was held in the home of life long friends Robert and Phyllis Shanks who had honored the new couple as witnesses to the marriage.

St. Louis was home for the next twenty years, but Lyle decided to retire from ABF in November of 1996. Upon retirement, relocation to Las Vegas, Nevada was immediate. A new home was constructed which the couple thoroughly enjoyed, just as they enjoyed this fantastic city, but by 2005 real estate values had drastically escalated and they felt that it would be foolish not to take advantage of the profit that could be had by selling the house. They decided to sell during this booming real estate market and to move to northern Texas which also allowed them to live closer to their children.

The couple found a beautiful home in the final stages of construction and immediately knew it was right for them. They soon settled in and were blessed with six years of enjoyable retirement before Elaine's health failed. Lyle lost his beloved Elaine to cancer in March, 2012.
