The son of Raymond and Marie (née Mercer) Harris, he was born Oct. 10, 1928, in Knox County.
He worked as a carpenter and painter for his family's business.
Gail enjoyed the outdoors and gardening.
He is survived by two brothers, Ralph Harris and George (Janice) Harris, both of Mount Vernon; one sister, Betty Daugherty of Mount Vernon; and his caregiver and best friend, Arlene Motter of Ashland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four sisters.
A service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at Heyl Funeral Home, 227 Broad St., Ashland. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
