Daniel "Dan" Richard Ottaway was born April 29, 1956 to Harry & Velma West Ottaway of Sherman, NY. He graduated from Sherman Central School where he excelled in school wrestling. During his summer vacations while in high school he worked for Ottaway Swimming Pools which was a family run business.


After high school he went on to receive his bachelor's degree from SUNY Geneseo & then his master's degree from Clarkson University both in engineering. After college he was hired by Fluor Daniel Corporation where he worked for 20 years. He traveled all across the United States as the lead engineer on many of their large projects.


He married Emily Jo on August 3, 1986 and they had (1) daughter together. They later divorced. He retired to Greenville, SC in 2008. He had a pilot's license and enjoyed flying and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle in retirement.


He was preceded in death by his father and his brother.


A memorial service was held for him at the Sherman Cemetery in Sherman, NY.
