Orvin Christianson, 89, passed away on Oct. 13, 2015 in Morton, Washington. Orvin was born March 20, 1926, to Julia and Henry Christianson in Polk County, Minnesota. Orvin was one of 18 children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julia and Henry Christianson; sister, Johanna Hammer; sister, Annie Foster; brother, Herbert Christianson, sister, Lily Cantwell; brother, Joe Christianson; sister, Hazel Rystad; brother, Selmer Christianson; brother, Gilbert Christianson; sister, Delyia Gierezak; sister, Bernice Mooney; brother, George Christianson; and twin sisters, Debra and Darlene Christianson.

Orvin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen “Dolly” Christianson; son, Richard Christianson; daughter, Julia Schiro; brother, Clarence Christianson; sister, Eunice Reinbold; sister, Lorraine Cote; brother, Lawrence Christianson; five grandchildren, Heather (Ryan) Sturn, Melanie Christianson, Lindsey (Tony) Elliott, Richard (Natalie) Schiro and Christiana Schiro. He was blessed with nine great-grandchildren.

Orvin was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Salem Lutheran in Oklee, Minnesota. He worked with his father on the farm, until he joined the U.S. Army in 1943. Orvin served in the European Theater in World War II. After returning home from the war, he went back to working on the farm for his parents. He relocated to Shelton, Washington in 1948 at Camp Grisdale logging during the summer months and in the winter months he worked at the Bremerton Naval base. In 1950, Orvin relocated for the last time making his home in Mineral, Washington, where he met and married Helen “Dolly” Kelly in 1951. He worked for St. Regis, Champion and then retired from Murray Pacific. Orvin served 22 years as a volunteer fire fighter, 12 of those years as fire commissioner. He was a loyal member of the Mineral Lions Club for 60 years. Orvin was also a member of the American Legion and Charter Member of Central Lutheran Church.

Services will be held at Central Lutheran Church in Morton, Washington on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a reception following the service at the Bob Lyle building. Orvin will be laid to rest during a private family graveside service.
