Dorothy May Rehm was born on 31 March 1917 in Wilcox, Nebraska, the daughter of Otto & Carrie Schepler Rehm. She was first married to Halvard Granberg (1901-1944) on 2 October 1937 in Pennington County, MN. After his death in 1944, she then married Claude E. Johnson (d.1984) on 2 February 1946 in Pennington County, MN. She was widowed again in 1984. She married for the third and final time to Verne Wendell Kingsbury (1911-1993) on 5 May 1987 in Goodhue County, MN. He died in 1993. She relocated back to Thief River Falls, MN, where she died on 4 March 2009 at the age of 91. She was interred at Greenwood Cemetery.

Dorothy Johnson Kingsbury, 91, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Oakland Park Communities, Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 8, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Bob Dahlen officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service on Sunday.
Dorothy May Rehm was born March 31, 1917 at her Grandma’s home near Wilcox, Nebraska, the daughter of Otto and Carrie (Schepler) Rehm. She and her family moved east of Thief River Falls, MN later that year. She attended country school and grew to womanhood in Pennington County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Dorothy was married to Halvard Granberg in 1937. He died suddenly in 1944. She was then married to Claude Johnson in 1946. At first they lived in Thief River Falls and then they lived for many years in Strandquist, MN where they owned and operated the Hartz Grocery store. They then moved to Long Point, MN for over 20 years and lived by Lake of the Woods during the summer and then they would spend winters in Brownsville, TX. Dorothy worked at Marvin Windows in Warroad during that time. Claude died in 1984. She helped with the potato harvest for many years near Alvarado.
She was then united in marriage to Verne Kingsbury in 1987. They made their home in Red Wing in 1992. Vern died in 1993 and Dorothy made her home in Hastings, MN. Dorothy then moved back to her original home land of Thief River Falls in 1999 where she has lived since. She has lived at Greenwood Terrace for all of these years, enjoying her friends there.
Dorothy liked craft-work, jigsaw puzzles and playing cards with friends at Greenwood Terrace. She was an avid traveler, and very handy when it comes to building projects.
Dorothy is survived by sons, John Johnson, Dallas, TX, and Andy (Sally) Johnson, Bryan, TX, 3 grandchildren, Carrie, Gregory and Kimberly Johnson, Texas. She is also survived by a special niece Ruby (Floyd) Haugen, Badger, MN who she spent much time with.
She was preceded in death by 3 husbands, 5 brothers and sisters, Allen, Elsie, Martin, Marie and Joe, a daughter-in-law, Edie Johnson, and a sister in law Olive Rehm.
