Born in Isabella Camp, in the Copper Basin of Southeastern Tennessee, on July 20, 1911, and a resident of Baton Rouge since her marriage in 1938, she died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at St. James Place.
Visiting at St. James Episcopal Church from noon until memorial services at 2 p.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Fred Fenton, the Rev. Ralph Howe and the Rev. Chuck Wood. Inurnment in the family plot in Magnolia Cemetery.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law; a son and daughter-in-law; five grandchildren; two great-grandsons; a sister and brother-in-law; a sister-in-law and her husband; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Charles McVea; a daughter, Jane Lobdell McVea Donalson; her parents, William Francis and Elma Hopkins Lamoreaux; and two sisters, Molly Lamoreaux Warner and Martha Lamoreaux Temple.

She was a graduate of the University of Chattanooga, where she later taught as an instructor in modern languages. She was a Chi Omega, a member of the Junior League, The Philistoria, a founding member of Modern Reviewers and co-founder and past member of the Decorators Club.

She was author of "Sugar Petite," a story based on memories of her mother-in-law, Pearl Lobdell McVea, as well as other published and unpublished works.

She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and a former vestry member.
