William was born on July 6, 1938 in Waupun, WI to Raymond and Esther (Bartenbach) Bender.
After graduating from the Rice Lake High School in 1956 he entered the United States Navy and was later honorably discharged in 1959. Bill did carpentry work for many years and also worked for Johnson Truck Bodies and retired in 2003.
Bill was married to Rena L. Amdall on April 12, 2001 in Rice Lake, WI. Bill loved deer hunting, fishing and playing pool.
William Bender is survived by his wife, Rena Bender of Cameron, WI; three children, Pamela (Nathan) Knoche of Hayward, WI, Bruce Bender of Birchwood, WI and Lynne (Jerry) Focht of Spokane, WA; a stepson, Curt and his family; a stepdaughter, Dawn and her family; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; father and mother-in-law, David & Jean Foss of Cameron, WI; and many nephews and nieces.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond & Esther Bender; and 3 brothers, Eugene, Dale and Harlan Bender.
Graveside Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spooner, WI. There will be a gathering afterwards at the Birchwood American Legion.
