BONITA, Calif. — Timothy Andrew Maphis, 76, of Bonita, passed away Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, in Bonita.

Timothy was born on Aug. 3, 1939, in Cumberland, and was the son of the late Nettie Pearl (Duckworth) Maphis and Andrew Frederik Maphis.

Timothy was a member of the Old North Cumberland and Central Assembly of God church before moving to Bonita in 1976, to live with his devoted sister, Ruth Maphis Glass and her husband, Kenneth Glass, following the passing of his mother. Timothy was currently a member of Bethany Assembly of God in San Diego, and a member for 38 years of ARC of San Diego Starlight Center, an organization which offers individuals with disabilities the opportunity to acquire essential skills to achieve their personal goals in a friendly and supported environment.

Timothy was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Raymond Maphis of Houston, Texas, and David Maphis of Long Beach.

He is survived by two sisters, Esther Cover of Cottage Hills, Ill., and Ruth Glass of Bonita; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service and interment will be held at Philos Cemetery in Westernport on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, at 1 p.m.

There will be a memorial service held at Bethany Assembly Church, San Diego, at a later date.
