She was a daughter of Peter Anderson & Bengta Christine Nelson (Nilsdatter). She immigrated to the USA in 1866 aboard the Kenilworth. She crossed the plains to Utah with the Peter Nebeker Company traveling with her mother and sister Philippa Anderson.

She had one brother who immigrated to Utah in 1864 and her father immigrated to Utah in 1862.

She married Thomas Walter Beam in Lincoln County Nevada in 1878 and had one son Alfa Walter Beam. She divorced and moved back to SLC Utah where she lived the remainder of her years.

After her death her will set aside much of her estate to start a Scholorship for mining and enginering students at the University Of Utah and the University of Nevada.
