Beverly Kay Tewksbury Navle, 62, of Spring Hill, Laceyville, passed away suddenly at her home on Sunday, May 27, 2007.
Beverly was born the oldest of eight children to Ralph C. and the late Betty Jane Brown Tewksbury of Spring Hill, Laceyville, on May 26, 1945, at Towanda. She was a 1963 graduate of Wyalusing Valley High School. Beverly had lived in Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio and Georgia. In 1994, Beverly moved back to her homestead on Spring Hill to be with her family and to help take care of her mom and dad. While in Georgia, Beverly worked as a counselor for the Jenny Craig Foundation and owned and operated her own business. When she moved back to Pennsylvania, she was employed by the Wyalusing Hotel as a hostess, took care of elderly people and was the manager for Smith’s Personal Care Home in Wyalusing. Bev was currently employed as the administration/manager for the Wyalusing Valley Personal Care Home since it opened in 1996. She was well-known for her individualized care and support of the clients of the home and their families. She worked closely with the area hospitals and agencies to help place individuals in the Care Home. Bev had a very special way with the elderly, and was very kind and considerate with each of her clients, whom she considered part of her extended family. In addition to her father, Bev is survived by her son Mark Navle, Buford, Ga.; and daughter and son-in-law Leesa and Mark Turner, Flowery Branch, Ga.; her special beloved grandchildren Dustin, Blake and Breanna, also of Flowery Branch, Ga.; her sister Betsy and David VanDeMark, Sugar Run; and brothers Ralph (Damon) and Doreen Tewksbury, Wake Forest, N.C.; Bruce and Patti Tewksbury, Brian and Linda Tewksbury, Bart and Tammy Tewksbury, Brett and Carla Tewksbury and Ben and Rena Tewksbury, all of Spring Hill; eight nephews; 10 nieces; and three great-nephews; and four great-nieces. Bev is also survived by many special aunts, uncles, cousins and a wide circle of extended family and a great number of special friends that she has made throughout her lifetime. Bev’s greatest joys in life, besides her children and grandchildren, were her many friends, her loving family, dancing and her doggy, Sushi. Beverly was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jane Brown Tewksbury, on February 21, 1999, and her maternal and paternal grandparents, and several aunts and uncles. Bev was a member of the Spring Hill United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Bev always loved to play hostess to the many dinners that were held at the Spring Hill Hall, where she was quick to share a story and a laugh. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, Laceyville, with pastor Diane Prentice of the Spring Hill United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Lacey Street Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial donations to Leesa Navle Turner, 5203 Stately Oaks Drive, Flowery Branch, GA 30245, for the Austic Foundation, which was very near and dear to Beverly’s heart.
