Carl Ernest Thompson was born in Wisconsin in 1889 to Solomon Thompson and Caroline Christine Christensen. He married Sadie Hamill on August 30, 1913. They had 3 children:
Elmer Charles Thompson, born Jan 4, 1916
Elsie Thompson, born December, 1916
Robert Thompson, born June 21, 1918.
Daughter Elsie died shortly after birth, and then wife Sadie died shortly after son Robert's birth in 1918. Uncle Ernie was unable to care for the surviving children, and Robert was given up for adoption. Elmer went to live with his grandmother, Christine. Ernie never remarried. He died in 1956 at the age of 67.
