Ole was born on the farm Stormælen Søndre in Egnund, Folldal, Hedmark, Norway as child number two out of three to Lars Hansen Rykroken from Folldal (1761-1796) and Marit Olsdatter Mælenget from Lilleelvdalen (Now known as Alvdal) (1760-1843)
He was baptist 10th of August 1788. His godparents was Haagen Folden, Jon Mælenget, Hans Hansen, Siri Ryen, Ingri Folden and Anna Hansdatter Stormælen. After his father's death, his mother married again, and gave Ole three half siblings. The daughter of his half brother Lars Avlesen Stormælen, married his son Lars Olsen Sørhus.

Ole became a farmer on the farm Sørhus Lille in Lilleelvdalen from his father in law the 2nd of October 1827. In 1835 they had 1 horse, 3 cos and 8 sheep. When Ole died, his son Lars Olsen Sørhus continued as the farmer on Sørhus Lille.
Ole was survived by his wife Marit, 4 daughters (True Olsdatter Lundeng, Marit Anderson, Johanna Olsdatter Lundeng, Anne Locken) and 4 sons (Lars Olsen Sørhus, Esten Olsen Sørhus, Avle Olson and Hans Olson). He was precede by his parents and his daughter Kari Olsdatter Sørhus.
