Gladys was the youngest of four children born to Elbert Waite Post & Hattie Gladys Mead. She grew up in Essex Junction, where she graduated high school in 1915. She attended Burlington Business College (now Champlain College) and married in 1923 to Frederic Archibald Prisley of Pawtucket RI. Gladys raised their two children in Webster MA, Providence RI, East Douglas & Andover MA.

"Gladys Honore Post Prisley, 97, of Alexandria, died Friday, Jan. 20, 1995, at the Woodbine Nursing Center, Alexandria. She was married to the late Frederic A. Prisley. She was born in Hinesburg, Vt. Feb. 15, 1897. She and her husband moved to Brookneal in 1952 where he was associated with Burlington Mills. She is survived by one daughter, Suzanne P. Rockefeller of Alexandria; one son John P. Prisley of Harpers Ferry, W. Va.; six grandchildren, Kim Henderson Wagner, Gray Ralph Henderson III, Robert Post Henderson Rockefeller, CDR Frederic A. Prisley USN, Stephen Post Prisley, Elizabeth Prisley Edgren; and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, Alexandria, on Saturday, Jan. 28. Interment will be at a later date at St. Wilfred Episcopal Church, Sarasota, Fla."
