Last Rites Set for Grade Crash Victim

Services for Oscar A. Jones, 78, Rose Hill, Kan., retired farmer who was killed in a car-train collision Thursday afternoon in Butler County, will be at 2 p.m., Sunday in Rose Hill Friends Church.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Jones was born in Rose Hill.

Survivors include his widow, Gertrude; three sons, Austin, Rose Hill, Ivan, 369 N. Elizabeth, and Charles, Arkansas City, Kan.; four daughters, Mrs. Edna Davis, Douglass, Kan., Mrs. Erma Heniges [sic], McComb, Ill., Mrs. Doris South [Blakey], 1857 S. Battin, and Mrs. Thelma Doley, Palm Springs, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Downing Mortuary has charge.

The Jones car was hit by a Santa Fe freight train on 71st Street South one and a quarter miles east of the Butler-Sedgwick county line.

[Notes: Oscar was the son of Marion W. and Ella (Davis) Jones. He was first married to Gertrude M. Silknitter February 16, 1905. All of the children mentioned in his obituary appear to be from that marriage. He was later married to Gertrude May "Gertie" (Johnson) Coday Jones.]
