Alice Rebecca "Al" Neely Dixon, age 86, passed away surrounded by her family on November 2, 2015 at St. Mark's Hospital in Millcreek.

She was born August 29, 1929 to Robert Joseph Neely and Angela Quentin Carpenter Neely in Cumberland, Maryland.

Alice attended Ursuline College in Louisville, Kentucky and Frostburg State College, Frostburg, Maryland. She worked at Alleghany Ballistics Laboratory as a secretary.

She married Howard Douglas Dixon on June 22, 1957. They were transferred to Salt Lake City in 1965.

She was a caring daughter, devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, supportive sister, and faithful friend. She was a voracious reader, had a quick wit, was a civil war buff, and loved lunches with "the committee."

Generous of spirit and quick to laugh - her eyes sparkled as she broke into an impromptu jig. She loved spending time joking with her brothers and sisters, her kids, and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her three daughters, Cheryl Diane Cunningham (Jim), Salt Lake City; Terryl Denise Erickson (Ted), Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Karol Darlene Dixon (Lori Frazier), Tooele; her grandchildren, Benjamin Erickson, Samantha Erickson, Courtney Cunningham, Katelyn Dixon, and Patrick Cunningham; and her siblings, Ruth McCullough, El Cerrito, California; Florence Schade, Cumberland; Kathleen Neely O.S.U., Peru; Martha Neely, Winchester, Virginia; and John Neely, Dublin, Ohio; and sister-in-law, Caroline Neely, Cumberland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Dixon; her sister, Mary Theresa Mattingly; and her brothers, Frederick, Andrew, and George Neely.

A celebration of life mass will be held in her honor on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1385 Spring Lane, Holladay.
