James graduated from Arab High School in 1956, and served in the Alabama National Guard. In earlier years he worked with defense contractors at Redstone Arsenal, and later worked as an electrician on commercial and industrial construction projects. During this time he managed his farm and rental houses. In 1976, he became a full time farmer. He farmed and raised cattle as long as his health permitted. He served on the board of directors of the Marshall County Farmers Cooperative for several years. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed trade days and flea markets, and collecting antiques.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edwin Earl White.
The funeral will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Gober Funeral Chapel in Arab, AL with Brother Bobby Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Brookwood Cemetery in Arab, AL with Gober Funeral Chapel directing.
