WWI Veteran Dies at Mare Island Hospital -

The long illness, principally heart trouble, experienced by Frank E. McMahan of Grass Valley, brought about his death at Mare Island Hospital, just seven days after he was admitted as a veteran patient. McMahan was a veteran of World War I.
McMahan died Thursday and the body was brought to Grass Valley for funeral services and interment by the Hooper-Weaver Mortuary. These rites are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the chapel with burial to follow in Elm Ridge Lawn. Rev. W. W. Turner of the Congregational Church will officiate. American Legion members will hold military rites at the graveside.
While a native of Idaho, where he was born June 26, 1896, making his age 51 years, eight months and 12 days, McMahan had lived in Grass Valley for a good many years.
The late Grass Valleyon was a rancher by vocation and a lover of horses but illness in recent years had forced him into semi-retirement.
The bereaved family consists of a wife, Cora H. McMahan; three sons, James of Nevada City; Allen and Leo, Grass Valley and a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Smith, Salt Lake City.
