After graduating from Cathedral Prep High School in 1972, Dave Nies worked at General Electric for 39 years as a welder and inspector. He was a member of Erie Christian Fellowship Church and volunteered at the Erie City Mission. He was a self-taught chef and enjoyed cooking, riding motorcycles, playing music, and traveling. He was an avid photographer. As a Find A Grave volunteer, he used his skills to contribute images to many online memorials.
