A.D. Freeman Dies En Route To Hospital

Arthur D.Freeman, 64, of 203 S. James St., died at 3:30 p. m. Tuesday while being taken to the Rome Hospital in the Nunn ambulance . He was stricken at his home.
Mr. Freeman a veteran of the Mexican Border Incident and World War I. Was born in Altmar on Jan. 23, 1891, son of Augustus and Mary Freeman. A plasterer and bricklayer he had lived in Rome since 1915.
He was twice married. His first wife was Mary Nettles who died Dec. 1, 1950. On Oct. 29, 1952, he married Mary Alder who survives.
Other survivors are a step-daughter, Mrs. Charles F. Meyer,Rome; three stepsons, Bernard Nettles, and Robert and Donald Alder,Rome; a sister , Mrs. Ethel Brady, Williamstown, N.J.; a brother Augustus Freeman New London, and two grandchildren.
Mr. Freeman served as commander of Rome Post Veterans of Foreign Wars, in 1940.
The funeral will be held from the Griffin & Aldridge Funeral Home at 8:30 a.m. Friday. A half-hour later a solemn requiem high Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary's Church , of which he was a member. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
