JONESBORO, LA - The Reverend Daniel Wesley Tohline departed this Earth on Sunday, June 13, 2010. He was born November 5, 1925 in Fort Worth, Texas. After completing high school, he attended Texas Tech until he joined the navy in 1942. During the war, he installed coding and decoding equpiment in military locations around the world. After the war, he attended Centenary College where he trained for church ministry. He received furthur training at Vanderbilt University, Iliff School of Theology and at SMU. During those years, he served churches in Tennessee, Colorado and Louisiana.

During his years of full-time ministry, he pastored churches in Sibley, Jeanerette, Raymond (near Jennings), Church Point, Iota, Moss Bluff, Sulphur, Elysian Fields in New Orleans, Vivian, Jonesboro, Mangum in Shreveport, Lafayette First Church and concluded his years of service at First United Methodist Church in New Orleans. His beautiful tenor voice won him many invitations to sing at revivals throughout the state.

Retirement came early because of a severe case of arthritis, but during his retirement he enjoyed producing beautiful and serviceable items in his woodworking shop.

Viewing is planned for Thursday, June 17, 2010 from 4-7p.m. at Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 18, 2010 at 10a.m. at Jonesboro United Methodist Church, with the following pastors--Rev. Staurt Sherman, Rev. Calvin Lapuyade, Rev. Howard Hudson and Rev. Bill Strawbridge. Pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge. Interment will be at Gayla Traina Cemetery in Jonesboro.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Veda Duff Tohline, one daughter, Barbette and two sons, Jayce and his wife Diane and Joel and his wife Patti, plus six grandchildren, Emily, Sharon, Stephanie, Jordan, Lauren and Kevin.
