Awatef was a devoted, spiritual mother who loved being surrounded by family and friends. Awatef was born in Al Bassa, Palestine, and she immigrated to the United States of America in 1987.
Awatef enjoyed spending time in the kitchen as well as taking care of her garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Mikhael.
She is survived by her 6 children: Edward (Nariman), Samir (Jaquline), Faten, Joseph (Michelle), Rudolph (Maria), Ossama (Traci) and 8 grandchildren: Mayk (Jessica), Mona, Casey, Elie, Summer, Wissam, Mitchel, and Heather.
The Trisagion was recited on Monday at Tiffany Funeral Home, Lansing. Service was at St. Joseph Melkite Greek Catholic Church, Lansing, with Fr. James Graham presiding. Rite of committal will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph Melkite Church or St. Vincent Catholic Charites in memory of Awatef.
