Jerome “Jerry” R. Williams, 88 of Kearney and formerly of Kensington. MN, died Sunday, November 15, 2015 at St. Luke’s Good Samaritan Village in Kearney. Visitation will be held 4-6pm, Tuesday at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. A prayer vigil will follow at 6pm. The Rev. Joseph Hannappel will officiate. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 PM, Saturday at Our Lady of the Runestone Catholic Church in Kensington, MN. Interment with military honors will be in the church cemetery. O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney is in charge of arrangements.
Jerome was born September 25, 1927 in Minneapolis, MN to Frank and Pauline (Hipp) Williams. He graduated from Alexandria High School in Alexandria, MN. He joined the US Navy during the Korean War and served as a boiler operator from 1950 to 54. He served on the USS Roosevelt. He attended Dunwoody Trade Institute.
He was married to Lois Palmer on February, 20, 1960 in Minneapolis.
He resided in Minneapolis, Coon Rapids, St. Michael, Kensington and Farwell, MN and Kearney, NE. Jerry worked as a drywall contractor for 50 years.
He is survived by his son, Timothy Williams and wife, Lisa of Kearney and daughter, Marie Tucker and husband Tom of Hancock, MN, 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, brothers, Robert, Eugene and Richard, sisters, Helen and Audrie.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1997 and sister, Marjorie.
